Falling Film Evaporator (FFE)

Highly effective for concentrating heat-sensitive solutions with very short product contact times — usually a few seconds per pass — and minimal temperature difference between heating medium and boiling liquid.

A Falling Film Evaporator is a highly effective industrial device for concentrating solutions, especially those containing heat-sensitive components. It operates on the principle of a thin film of liquid falling under gravity that is partially vaporized by the heat source. Product contact time is very short — usually a few seconds per pass — and the system functions with very small temperature differences between the heating media and the boiling liquid. These qualities make it the most widely used evaporator type for heat-sensitive applications. Semco plants are also capable of drying whole egg, egg yolk, and egg white (albumen) using integrated spray drying.
